Quilt Preparation & Guidelines

To ensure the best results, please follow these preparation guidelines before submitting your quilt:

The quilt backing must be 5-6 inches larger than the quilt top on all sides.

(Example: If your quilt top is 60” x 60”, the backing should be at least 70” x 70”.)

• Backing must be pieced, squared, and pressed, ready for loading onto the longarm frame.

• Do not remove selvage from the backing edges—this helps with proper alignment.

• If your backing has seams, remove selvage from the seam to avoid puckering after washing and with seams pressed open.

• If providing your own batting, it must be 3-4 inches larger than the quilt top on all sides.

• Batting should be flat and smooth, with no wrinkles or folds.

Ensure the quilt is square, pressed, and free of loose threads.

• Stay stitch around the quilt if you have seams or pieced borders.

• Trim all excess threads, as they may show through the finished quilt.

• If the outer border is less than 2 inches, consider adding 1 inch for better finishing.
